
Evidence Wipe online user manual.
Evidence Wipe Introduction.
Evidence Wipe is a powerful privacy protection tool that will
allow you to better manage your online and offline personal
privacy along with that of your family members. Evidence Wipe
supports the standards laid out by the United States Department of
Defense in terms of data removal from end-users computers.
Installation Of Evidence Wipe.
Once you have purchased a copy of the Evidence Wipe privacy
protection software you will be sent an email by our payment
processor, CCBill.
In this email you find your username and password to access the
Evidence Wipe download center located at http://cc.evidencewipe.com/members/
Once you have successfully logged in to the Evidence Wipe
download center you will see a small red button which you should
click to download your new software.
Once you have downloaded the evidencewipe.exe file you should
then double-click on it to start the installation process, the
program installer will guide you through the entire setup process
which should only take about 60 seconds.
Using Evidence Wipe.
With the Evidence Wipe software installed on your computer the
first thing you should do is launch the program by double-clicking
the Evidence Wipe icon located on your Desktop or, by going to
Start > Programs > Evidence Wipe > Evidence Wipe.
Once the application has opened you will see a screen like the
one below with 3 tabs on it, these tabs are where you will
configure the various parts of the Evidence Wipe programs cleaning
functions and they include, from left to right, History Cleaner,
Cookie Keeper and, Settings.

Evidence Wipe 1st Time Setup.
Before you use Evidence Wipe for the first time, you need to
setup the various types of data removal processes by clicking on
the 'settings' tab. You will then see several options, these are
as follows:

Automatically Close IE Windows When Clean Starts.
This option will automatically close your Internet Explorer
browser once the cleaning process begins, this is to ensure that
all IE cookies, temporary files and recently accessed web page
history and click history is removed completely.
If you would like to sanitize your IE history, IE cookies,
stored passwords, temporary internet files, recently accesses web
pages, URL address bar, and other Internet Explorer related data,
this option should be checked for optimal performance.
Automatically Close FireFox Windows When Clean Starts.
This option will automatically close your Mozilla FireFox
browser once the cleaning process begins, this is to ensure that
all FireFox cookies, temporary files and recently accessed web
page history and click history is removed completely.
If you would like to sanitize your FireFox history, cookies,
stored passwords, temporary internet files, recently accesses web
pages, URL address bar, and other Mozilla FireFox related data,
this option should be checked for optimal performance.
Clean System Defaults Every [X Minutes].
This is where you can set the Evidence Wipe scheduled cleaning
process. For optimal results we recommend setting the scheduled
time anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes.
Automatically Start In Invisible Mode When Windows Starts.
If you check this box then as soon as Windows boots up,
Evidence Wipe will also launch but will not start removing any
data until you activate the cleaning process (Unless you have
scheduling turned on).
Clean My Defaults When Windows Starts.
By checking this box Evidence Wipe will automatically start
removing hidden data from your computer as soon as Windows starts.
We recommend using this option if you want your private data to be
as secure as possible.
Work In Invisible Mode When Program Starts.
This option will start Evidence Wipe in 'invisible mode'
whenever the program launches, you will notice a small Evidence
Wipe logo on the bottom right of your desktop (in your taskbar)
when you are running the program in invisible mode. To break out
of invisible mode, simply hold down CTRL+K and the main Evidence
Wipe window will open.
Once you have setup Evidence Wipe to operate how you would like
it to, simply click on the 'save' button and Evidence Wipe will
store your preferences for future use.

Removing / Keeping Cookies.
Once you have used the program setup screen, the next tab you
should click on is the 'Cookies Keeper' tab, this is where you
will be able to tell Evidence Wipe which specific cookies you
would like it to leave on your computer along with which ones you
would like Evidence Wipe to remove.
To save a cookie, search in the left had side box for the
cookie you wish to keep, click on it once, then click on the 'add'
button which will then place the cookie name on the right hand
side box. If you make a mistake, simply click on the cookie name
in the right hand side box and click on 'remove' to amend the
list..
After you have selected all of the cookies you wish to keep,
you should click on the 'Save' button.
Start Sanitizing Your Computer.
Now that we have setup the Evidence Wipe privacy protection
software, it is time to start using it. Remember that you will
only have to go through the setup stages again if you wish to
change any of the options or, to add more cookies to save.
By default Evidence Wipe shows you all of the option in the
main screen that you can select/de-select. If you wish to only see
the options for a specific cleaning process, Windows, Internet
Explorer or, FireFox then you can click on the 'Selector' panel on
the left hand side to just show the information you would like to
see.
You will notice that next to each individual item (on the right
hand side) there is a number, this number represents how many
kilobytes of storage space is being used by each of the individual
hidden data files, once you have run Evidence Wipe, you will
notice that a lot of those numbers change to 0k, this is perfectly
normal and it means that all the hidden data on your computer has
been removed, so do not be alarmed.
Selecting Items To Clean And What They Do.
Now let us take a moment to go over what each of the individual
items in the main list are, and what they do, along with the type
of hidden data Evidence Wipe may remove from each item.
IE Cache.
This option will remove all of your Internet Explorer cache
files, including stored images, movies, downloaded web pages and
also pages stored in your Internet Explorer directory by Windows.
We recommend that all users select this option.
IE Cookies.
This option will delete any cookies from Internet Explorer
except for the cookies you saved in the 'Cookie Keeper' setup you
used earlier. We recommend that all users select this option.
IE URLs History.
This will remove all history of any link that you have clicked
online, which will make it look like any page you may visit, you
have never been to before, even though you have and have also
clicked links on that page. We recommend that all users select
this option.
IE Typed URLs.
This option will remove the auto-complete URL address bar URLs
that someone may see if they try typing a direct website address
in to your Internet Explorer browser. We recommend that all users
select this option.
IE Favorites.
This part of the selection process will remove ALL Internet
Explorer favorites from your computer, if you have websites saved
in your Favorites, then it is not recommended to use this feature
if you need to keep the favorites list intact.
IE Auto-Complete Forms.
This option will remove information such as your home address,
credit card numbers, social security numbers, your name and phone
number, email address and other data that your computer may have
stored about your. This is the type of data that hackers, spyware
and trojans try to get in order to steal your identity. Evidence
Wipe removes this data with each use so long as you have this
option selected. We recommend that all users select this
option.
IE Auto-Complete Passwords.
This option will remove any stores usernames or passwords you
may have on your computer. This is the type of information that
phishing scams try to get from you as well as computer hackers in
order to change your online account details or read your private
emails, etc. We recommend that all users select this option.
Windows Run History.
This option will remove all history of recently opened files
and folders from the Windows run menu. Removing this data will
stop people from knowing which programs you have opened and used.
We recommend that all users select this option.
Windows Recent Files.
This option in Evidence Wipe will completely remove all traces
of recently accessed files and folders, this includes images,
movies, word files, notepad files, emails, downloads, etc. This
will stop anyone from being able to see which files you recently
accessed and what changes you made to them. We recommend
that all users select this option.
Windows Recycle Bin.
This option will completely empty and destroy any and all files
or folders located in your recycle bin at the time of running
Evidence Wipe. Only use this option if you are 100% certain that
you do not need to recover any of the files or folders located in
the recycle bin.
Windows Last Logon User.
This option will clear out the data stored by Windows about the
last computer user to logon to the system, this is primarily if
your computer is shared by more than 1 person each with their own
'account'.
Windows Temp Files.
This option will remove ALL traces of temporary files that are
created in programs such as Outlook, Word, FrontPage, Paint,
Notepad, etc. This secures your temporary file data making sure
that nobody can access any of it and find out what you have been
working on. This is an especially important feature for Evidence
Wipe users in the workplace.
Mozilla FireFox Cache.
This option will clean out the cache created by the Mozilla
FireFox browser whenever you visit a website online. This stops
people being able to trace your steps online when using the
Mozilla FireFox browser. We recommend that all FireFox users
select this option.
Mozilla FireFox Cookies.
This option in Evidence Wipe will clean out all of your Mozilla
FireFox based cookies (with the exception of ones you chose to
keep in the 'Cookies Keeper' section of the setup). We recomment
that all FireFox users select this option.
Mozilla FireFox Download Manager.
Selecting this option will completely remove all stored data
that Mozilla FireFox indefinitely records about the programs and
items you have downloaded off the internet. By cleaning this
information from your computer nobody will be able to tell what
you downloaded, when you downloaded it or where it was saved to on
your computer. We recomment all FireFox users select this option.
Once you have checked the individual items that you wish
Evidence Wipe to clean the data from, you should click on the
'Save as Default' button which will store your selection for the
next time you load the program (so that you don't have to
re-select everything again) once you have saved your defaults the
next thing you need to do is click 'Clean', this will start the
program (and you will hear a brief sound as Evidence Wipe starts
cleaning the data from your computer).
Once Evidence Wipe has successfully cleaned all of the hidden
data from the areas on your computer that you select you will hear
another small sound letting you know it has finished.
Congratulations, any hidden data about you that was stored on
your computer has now been removed and your privacy is safe once
again.
